About me
My name is Joanna Murphy, I’ve been independently landscaping in the Kearsarge region of New Hampshire for over 30 years, specializing in organic garden design, installation, and maintenance. My work is rooted in a deep respect for the natural world and a commitment to creating landscapes that are as environmentally responsible as they are beautiful.
Whether designing a new garden or maintaining an existing one, I aim to reflect the vision of my clients while enhancing the natural character of the land.
My Approach
My landscaping philosophy centers around organic practices and sustainability. I prioritize use of native plants and hardy perennials to craft gardens that are resilient, lower-maintenance, and in harmony with the surrounding environment. Every design is created with intention—considering soil health, local climate, and ecological conditions to select plant species that will thrive naturally, without the need for synthetic fertilizers, chemical pesticides, or excessive watering.
I rely exclusively on natural solutions for pest control and plant nourishment, ensuring that the health of the soil, pollinators, and wildlife is always prioritized. By observing each site’s unique conditions, I adapt my methods to enhance what nature already offers, rather than imposing on it, and choose plant material that will thrive with less maintenance. The result is a landscape that is not only sustainable but also deeply integrated with the local ecosystem.
My Values
At the heart of my work is a belief in harmony with the natural world. I aim to create gardens that align with the rhythms and cycles of the environment, support biodiversity and ecological balance, while meeting the aesthetic desires of my clients.
Through years of experience, I’ve learned that it is entirely possible to create stunning, manicured landscapes while minimizing disruption to the natural world. By thoughtful selection and placement of plant material, gardens can attract pollinators, birds, beneficial insects, and create healthy soil, which in turn sustain the beauty and health of the garden.
I believe in working with nature, not against it—crafting vibrant outdoor spaces that satisfy the desires of the customer as well as the ecosystem.
